LA28 Concludes Successful Coordination Commission Meeting with the International Olympic Committee Showcasing Record Milestones Two Years from the Games

Los Angeles (June 5, 2026) - This past week, LA28 organizers met with the International Olympic Committee (IOC) Coordination Commission to review progress as preparations for the 2028 Games move from planning to operational readiness.

Over three days of cross-functional presentations and open dialogue working sessions, LA28 teams shared key achievements since the group’s last meeting in June 2025, along with upcoming milestones and future-ready plans that support both the delivery of the 2028 Games and the Movement’s long-term success.

Among the topics of the 3-day meeting, LA28 highlighted:

  • Engagement with fans, with the launch of its ticketing program, the volunteer program and the Look of the Games

  • Engagement with the community, including progress with its procurement program and local economic impact, the growth of PlayLA, the debut of the plans for the Cultural Olympiad and the launch of the Resilience Champions Fund

  • Engagement with Games stakeholders and delivery partners, including International Federations, National Olympic Committees, National Paralympic Committees, venue operators, city partners and more as plans for the largest Olympic and Paralympic Games in history come to life and LA28 prepares to deliver an exceptional experience for athletes and spectators from around the world

With just over two years until the Olympic Games return to Los Angeles for a third time and the Paralympic Games make their LA debut, LA28 has drawn global attention for its record-breaking ticket sales, with more than 4 million Olympic tickets sold since sales began earlier this year, with Drop 2 set to take place in August. Also coming this summer: Games-time Volunteer applications will open, expanding the Volunteer Program presented by Delta Air Lines, which launched in late 2025 and has since attracted interest from more than 300,000 people from around the world.
