The NFL and LA28 Release New Custom Emblem During Super Bowl LX

New Emblem Captures LA’s Creative Spirit and Celebrates Olympic Debut of Flag Football

Los Angeles, CA (February 9, 2026) – During the Super Bowl LX broadcast on NBC, Peacock and Telemundo, the National Football League (NFL) and LA28 unveiled a new custom emblem designed to spotlight Los Angeles’ creative spirit and celebrate Flag Football, which is making its Olympic Games debut in 2028.

Flag Football, governed by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF), represents an inclusive, accessible and contact-free format of American Football, able to engage youth both domestically and around the world. It is one of the fastest growing sports both in the U.S. and abroad, with approximately 20 million Flag Football players in more than 100 countries with gender-balanced athlete participation. In 2023, Flag Football was confirmed to the LA28 Olympic sport program, joining more than 50 sports that will be featured in 2028.

For a chance to witness history at the LA28 Games, including the Olympic Games premiere of Flag Football further supported by the NFL clubs’ resolution allowing NFL players to participate in the LA28 tournament, fans can take the first step to getting tickets by registering for the LA28 Ticket Draw* at tickets.la28.org.

“This emblem is another step in building excitement and momentum toward LA28, giving fans a new way to connect with the sport and the Games,” said Peter O’Reilly, NFL Executive Vice President of Club Business, International, and League Events. “As interest in flag football continues to grow, this emblem helps bring that energy to life and engage fans around what’s ahead.”

The new custom emblem draws inspiration from the iconic laces of a football, wrapped in the sport’s dynamic flowing flag, featuring the vibrant color yellow, as it will be showcased in LA. The design captures the speed and energy that defines the sport, emphasizing swift and fluid movements throughout. Together, these design concepts create an emblem that not only pays tribute to the sport’s recognizable features but also celebrates its place on the world stage at the LA28 Olympic Games.

“The release of this new emblem with the NFL is an exciting moment on our shared road to 2028 and the Olympic debut of Flag Football, contributing to the immense momentum behind the Games,” said Janet Evans, LA28 Chief Athlete Officer. “We’re proud to collaborate with the NFL on this design that celebrates the power of sport and captures the athletic dynamism that will define LA28.”

“This awesome creative collaboration reflects the excitement felt right across the worldwide American Football community as we prepare for our sport’s historic first Olympic Games appearance in LA28. It’s fantastic to have our primary professional league partner so strongly committed alongside us, lending its platforms and innovation to support the success of the Games,” said Pierre Trochet, President of the International Federation of American Football (IFAF)

Launched in 2020, the LA28 emblem system is inspired by LA’s grid, anchored by a static and bold L, 2 and 8 that form the foundation of the mark. At the center of the LA28 mark is a dynamic, animated ‘A’ built for the digital age—an evolving symbol that reflects the energy and innovation leading the LA28 Games.

The newly debuted custom emblem joins a collection of 50+ unique emblems of the LA28 Games. Together, they represent the voices and partners that reflect the Host City’s vibrant culture, creativity, inclusiveness and self-expression.
