Rugby Sevens

Rugby Sevens is a variation of Rugby, featuring teams of seven players. Athletes only have two 7-minute halves to play, dramatically condensing the traditional match time, while the pitch size remains the same, making for a fast-paced, physically demanding game. Right from kick-off, players are plunged into action, carrying the ball forward, passing it backward and kicking it to advance it down the field and score tries (5 points), kick conversions (3 points) or penalty kicks (2 points). LA28 will feature three action-packed days of competition for both the men's and women's tournaments, with teams divided into three pools of four before progressing to knockout stages for medals. Rugby Sevens displays an incomparable speed, agility and endurance that has been getting fans hyped since its debut at the 2016 Rio Games and will be sure to keep the energy going at LA28.
