What benefit will the Games bring to Los Angeles?

Sport has the ability to connect and unite people across communities and around the world, coming together through a shared purpose. The LA28 Games will showcase the best of sports and offer an opportunity to catalyze lasting change, using sports as a driver of progress.

These Games are not about construction or buildings. At the heart, the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games are about people: athletes, fans, the Los Angeles community. Because of Los Angeles’ abundance of existing world-class stadiums and arenas, the LA28 Games are focused on elevating the experience around the Olympics and Paralympics, using the Games to drive lasting equitable benefit across the Southern California region, before, during and after 2028.

The LA28 Games hope to inspire action, champion ideals and uplift communities, by catalyzing programming that benefits Angelenos of all identities. The Olympic and Paralympic Games in Los Angeles will drive equitable access to youth sports, as LA28 invests $160 million in sports for kids across Los Angeles, the single largest investment in youth sports development in California.

The LA28 Games will bring employment opportunities, economic benefit and pride to people across Los Angeles. And as Los Angeles hosts its first Paralympic Games for athletes with disabilities and impairments, the Games can advance inclusion for people with disabilities.
