A once-in-a-generation
role
One moment, one interaction, one "Welcome, can I help you?" can turn an ordinary experience, into an extraordinary one. These small moments, when added up, turn the Olympic and Paralympic Games from a sporting event into an unforgettable experience. Games-time volunteering involves giving your time and energy to helping put the LA28 Games on during the Olympic and Paralympic periods. Tasks range from guiding guests and athletes to more specialized roles including providing medical and translation services. The application to become a Games-time member of the LA28 Volunteer Crew opens on July 14!

FAQ
Q: What are the requirements to apply to be a Games-time volunteer?
A: To be eligible to apply for a Games-time volunteer role, you must meet the following requirements:
- Be 18 years or older at the time of your application
- Be proficient in English (reading and writing)
- Be available for 10 non-consecutive shifts (of approximately eight hours each) during the 2028 Olympic or Paralympic Games volunteer periods
Q: Do I need to be a U.S. citizen or California resident to volunteer at the LA28 Games?
A: No. Games-time volunteers are not required to live in Los Angeles or even within the United States. When applications open on July 14, 2026, you will be asked to provide your current location as part of the application process. This helps us understand where applicants are traveling from, but it is not a factor in eligibility or selection. Receiving a volunteer role does not guarantee a visa. If you are selected and need to travel to the United States, you must independently qualify for entry under U.S. immigration requirements.
Q: What is the minimum time commitment for Games-time volunteers?
A: To volunteer at the LA28 Games you must commit to a minimum of 10 non-consecutive shifts of approximately eight hours each during either the Olympic or Paralympic Games volunteer periods. Games-time volunteering covers both the Olympic Games and the Paralympic Games and your 10-shift commitment is for one Games or the other. If you are interested in volunteering at both Games, you must be available for 10 shifts during each. Both Games offer similar roles, and each have their own exciting energy and vibe. If interested, we encourage you to share availability across both to learn more and share in the magic of each Movement.
Q: Are there volunteer opportunities before the official Olympic and Paralympic Games volunteer periods?
A: If you are interested and available in additional opportunities outside of the Olympic and Paralympic volunteer periods and beyond your 10-shift minimum, we will have volunteer opportunities running from November 2026 to March 2028 and there will be a place to indicate this interest in the application.
Q: Can I choose the exact Games-time volunteer role I want?
A: There will be a place in the application to indicate your top three preferred volunteer role categories. We will do our best to honor your preferences but cannot guarantee you will get your top choices.
Q: Do I need prior volunteer experience to be a Games-time volunteer?
A: Prior experience is not required to be a Game-time volunteer and for many roles, no experience is necessary. However, some roles do require experience, and we will consider past experiences in the selection process.
Q: Will volunteers be paid or have their expenses covered?
A: Volunteer roles are unpaid opportunities and expenses such as travel or lodging are not covered. If you are interested in employment with LA28, you can check our careers page here.
