Para Badminton

Para Badminton is an indoor racket sport that showcases exceptional athleticism, skill and strategy, demanding explosive speed and razor-sharp reflexes. Played in a singles or doubles format, athletes on opposite halves of a court use rackets to hit a shuttlecock–a small, feathered projectile–back and forth over a net. These high-speed rallies require relentless movement, strategic thinking and split-second decision-making, as players aim to score points by landing the shuttlecock on the opposition's side of the court or force errors. A point is won on every rally and matches follow a best-of-three format, with each game played to 21 points. Athletes are divided into six classifications determined by the degree of their impairment–four for standing athletes with short stature or upper and lower limb impairments and two for athletes in wheelchairs–which dictates court size and flooring. Played in 60 countries worldwide, Para Badminton has been thrilling Paralympic spectators since its debut at Tokyo 2020 and is sure to captivate fans at LA28 with its intense and speedy rallies.
