BMX Racing

BMX (Bicycle Moto-Cross) culture was born from kids off-road biking on self-made dirt tracks in the 1950s and 60s. Since then, the sport has evolved from its very first race taking place in LA in 1969, to reaching Olympic sport status at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. BMX Racing is an edge-of-your-seat race that starts on top of an 8-meter hill and sees athletes on bikes with 20-inch wheels fly through a 400-meter track full of banks, obstacles and 180° turns. Athletes must exercise incredibly quick reflexes and reactions to propel their bikes across the terrain at heart-pounding speeds of up to 35mph (60km/h) ahead of their competitors. At LA28, the sport will see a full circle moment with its return to where it all began.
A group of BMX racers is captured mid-race on a track featuring numerous undulating hills. Each rider is airborne, their bikes lifted off the ground as they navigate the course. The racers wear colorful racing outfits, helmets, and protective gear. The track is a mix of green artificial turf and light grey racing paths. The shadows of the riders and their bikes are visible on the track below, emphasizing the height of their jumps.
