Beach Volleyball

Beach Volleyball is a beloved staple of Southern California culture, and in 2028, the beaches of Los Angeles will welcome it to its second American Games. This exhilarating and captivating sport is played on an outdoor sand court where two teams of two players aim to score points by hitting a ball over a net and landing it in the opposing team’s court. A fluid and graceful game, athletes must pass, set and spike the ball, while their opponents use blocks and digs to keep the ball off their side of the sand. Since it became an Olympic sport in 1996 the dynamic duos of Beach Volleyball have been thrilling crowds with their speed, power and lightning-fast reactions.
A beach volleyball player wearing a white sports bra and sunglasses dives in the sand to dig the ball. She has a focused expression, and her hair is tied back in a ponytail. The ball is yellow, blue, and white, marked with "Tokyo 2020." The background features a blurred view of the Olympic rings and a blue barrier.
