Boxing
Boxing is a 1-on-1, full-contact combat sport where athletes try to land scoring punches on their opponent’s upper body, specifically the torso and front and sides of the head. This event requires equal parts physical power and mental toughness, as boxers battle it out in bouts consisting of three 3-minute rounds. Judges score each bout on a 10-point scale (the 10-point must system), and winners are determined by number of scoring blows and technical and tactical superiority. Victory goes beyond pure muscle, requiring quick thinking, pinpoint accuracy and unshakeable focus. Contested in all but one Games since 1904, Los Angeles is proud to carry the legacy of Olympic Boxing forward, seeing the same number of weight classes for men and women, creating gender parity in the sport for the first time ever.
Boxing preliminary stages will take place at Peacock Theater and final stages will take place at DTLA Arena.
