Handball

Handball is a fast-paced, high-scoring sport that combines elements of Basketball, Baseball and Football (Soccer). Played on a indoor court measuring 40x20m, two teams of seven players each try to score by throwing the ball into their opponent's goal. Players cannot hold the ball for more than three seconds or take more than three steps without dribbling, making it a dynamic team sport that requires excellent communication and constant passing. Handball matches are comprised of two 30-minute halves and since body contact is permitted, the sport is both highly physically-demanding for athletes and a riveting watch for fans. Featured consistently in the Olympic Games for both men and women since 1972 and 1976 respectively, LA28 is proud to welcome Handball back to the city for its second Los Angeles Games.
