Para Equestrian

In Para Equestrian, athletes compete on horseback in the Para Dressage category of competition. Dressage is the ultimate showcase of horse training, with the rider and horse performing certain movements in front of a panel of judges, combining elements of lightness and harmony. Para Equestrian is the only artistic sport in the Paralympic Games and is judged on both technical execution and artistic impression. Athletes compete in five classification grades based on the impact of an impairment on their ability to ride. Each class includes all genders and includes athletes with different types of impairments competing against each other. Para Equestrian is the only Paralympic sport to involve animals and is a dynamic display of athletes' connection with their horses.
