Para Climbing

Para Climbing is an exciting and dynamic sport that will be making its Paralympic debut at LA28 and is the first sport ever added to the Paralympic Movement by an Organizing Committee. The sport sees athletes demonstrate endurance, power, creativity and coordination to scale a climbing wall. At LA28, athletes will compete in a format where the aim is to climb as high as possible on a 15-meter wall in a single attempt of six minutes while wearing a harness and rope. Para Climbing at LA28 will see competition in classifications for athletes with visual impairments who are blindfolded and assisted by their sight guides, limb deficiencies and limited power or mobility. Climbers compete on routes to match their classification, but the main challenge, solving the wall, remains the same. Characterized by suspense, creativity and jaw-dropping feats of strength and problem solving, the Paralympic Games' newest sport is sure to send it big in Los Angeles.
