Para Canoe

Para Canoe is a captivating display of speed, raw power and technique. On flatwater and in their own lane, athletes race in a kayak or va'a (an outrigger canoe) over the distance of 200m. The sport demands more than just a fast pace, it's an epic test of intensity, strength and technique, where explosive paddle strokes must be balanced with achieving the smoothest gliding boat. Events are divided by athlete classification.  Boats have one athlete paddling forwards using a double-bladed paddle in a kayak or a single-bladed paddle in a va'a. Part of the Games since 2016, it is sure to bring a powerful and mesmerizing viewing experience to Southern California's shores in 2028.
