Trampoline Gymnastics

Developed in the 1930s to train astronauts and acrobats, this high-flying sport is the newest addition to Olympic Gymnastics, joining the Games in 2000. In Trampoline Gymnastics, athletes execute jaw-dropping twists and somersaults on a trampoline. Launching their bodies up to 10m in the air, competitors deliver routines consisting of 10 consecutive skills, which judges score based on difficulty, execution, horizontal displacement and time of flight. The sport demands extraordinary spatial awareness and control, with gymnasts taking off, orienting their bodies mid-air and then landing, all in a matter of milliseconds, providing spectators with high-stakes and high-excitement performances.
A gymnast in a blue leotard performs a high-flying routine on a trampoline. She is captured mid-air, fully extended with her body parallel to the ground and her arms outstretched to the side. The trampoline is surrounded by spotters in red and purple uniforms. The background shows a large arena filled with spectators, Olympic banners, and bright overhead lights. National flags from various countries hang above the crowd.
