Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a dynamic Korean martial art practiced in over 200 countries, making it one of the most globally recognized combat sports. Athletes compete 1-on-1 on an 8-meter octagonal mat, using a combination of powerful kicks, precise punches and agile foot technique to outmaneuver their opponents. Techniques such as spinning kicks and head kicks showcase the sport’s flair and athleticism, often becoming highlights of competition. Matches follow a best-of-three-round format, with each round scored based on technique accuracy and impact. Since becoming an official medal sport at the Sydney 2000 Games, Taekwondo has been demonstrating the sport's unique blend of physical intensity and philosophical depth on the Olympic stage.
