Cycling Track

Cycling Track events challenge athletes to push their pace in bicycle races that occur inside a velodrome: a large 250-meter indoor wooden track that features banked turns and fast straights. From sprint events to 200-lap endurance contests, track cyclists ride fixed-gear, brakeless bikes around the velodrome track on a mission to finish first. The velodrome’s unique setting calls for athletes to maintain a high level of tactical skill and awareness in each race, delivering non-stop thrills and fast-paced action at every turn.
A team of four cyclists, wearing matching white uniforms and aerodynamic helmets, rides closely together in a line on a wooden indoor velodrome track. They are navigating a steeply banked curve marked with red, blue, and black lines. Above them, the rings of the Olympic logo are visible on the wooden surface.
